Mark your calendars and loosen your belt — Canada's Largest Ribfest is returning to Burlington's beautiful Spencer Smith Park for Labour Day weekend 2026, and this year is extra special: the festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
Whether you're a seasoned Ribfest regular or a first-timer curious about what all the smoke and sizzle is about, here's everything you need to know before you go.
When and Where
Dates: September 4–7, 2026 Location: Spencer Smith Park, Burlington, Ontario Hours: Friday to Sunday, 11:00 am – 11:00 pm | Monday (Labour Day), 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
Note that entrance gates close 30 minutes before the event ends each night, so plan your arrival accordingly.
30 Years of Smoke, Sauce, and Community
Canada's Largest Ribfest isn't just the biggest — it's the original. Organized by the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore, the festival has been a Labour Day weekend tradition since the Rotary Club planned Ontario's very first Ribfest back in 1996. Three decades later, it's grown into a true community landmark, drawing over 183,000 attendees in a single year when it broke its own attendance record back in 2016.
The numbers are staggering: more than 150,000 pounds of ribs have been sold over the course of a single four-day event, and the festival has raised close to $5 million for local charities and community organizations over its lifetime. Every rack you devour supports causes ranging from the Burlington Food Bank and Joseph Brant Hospital to the Carpenter Hospice and Canadian Mental Health Association. That's some seriously feel-good BBQ.
The Rib Teams: Where the Magic Happens
The heart of Ribfest is, of course, the ribbers — the 16 competitive BBQ teams that travel from across North America to battle it out for barbecue supremacy. Past competitors have included fan favourites like Bone Daddy's BBQ, Camp 31 BBQ, Gator BBQ, Silver Bullet BBQ, Uncle Sam's BBQ, Fat Boys BBQ, and many more. Each team brings its own secret rubs, regional sauces, and smoking techniques, meaning there's genuinely no two racks that taste the same. The friendly competition (and the judges' panel) only adds to the fun.
More Than Just Ribs
While the BBQ is the undisputed star, Ribfest has something for everyone in the family:
Live entertainment on the main stage throughout the weekend
Kids Zone presented by Latch Developments, packed with midway rides, face painting, games, and activities for all ages
Cold drinks courtesy of beer sponsor Labatt, plus spirits from Dillon's and other partners
VIP experience presented by Stratus Commercial Cleaning — skip the lines for ribs, drinks, and washrooms with a VIP ticket, available through Burlington PAC
A Festival That Gives Back
What makes Canada's Largest Ribfest truly stand out isn't just the food — it's the purpose behind it. Every dollar raised goes back into the community through the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore's charitable programs, supporting local organizations focused on health, hunger relief, and community well-being. Attending isn't just a fun weekend; it's a genuine act of community support.
How to Get Tickets
VIP tickets for the 2026 festival are available through Burlington PAC at burlingtonpac.ca. General admission is free, so the only cost is in the ribs — and trust us, they're worth every penny.
