A new destination is taking shape in Niagara-on-the-Lake, bringing together hospitality, dining, shopping, and public gathering spaces in one thoughtfully designed district.
Known as Clayfield Commons, the development is envisioned as a walkable community hub anchored by The Clayfield Hotel, part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection. The project aims to create an environment where visitors and residents can seamlessly move between restaurants, cafés, retail shops, and inviting public spaces.
At the heart of the district will be a tree-lined public square designed to encourage year-round activity and community connection. Rather than functioning solely as a tourism destination, the development is intended to reflect the character and charm that Niagara-on-the-Lake is known for, creating a place where locals and visitors can gather, dine, and explore.
The Clayfield Hotel will serve as the district’s centerpiece, offering a boutique hospitality experience that emphasizes a strong sense of place. Developers say the vision from the beginning was to integrate the hotel, restaurants, and public spaces into the everyday life of the region, ensuring the project feels connected to the community rather than separate from it.
The broader Clayfield Commons development will also include retail and office space, further strengthening its role as a mixed-use destination. By combining hospitality, commerce, and public amenities, the project is expected to enhance the gateway to Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake while supporting local economic growth.
As construction progresses, the new district is poised to become one of Niagara’s most notable new gathering places—offering visitors another reason to explore the region while creating a vibrant space for residents to enjoy year-round.
