Nearly 60% of Canada's core infrastructure is owned and maintained by municipalities — local elections shape the services you use every day.

Who You'll Be Voting For

This October, Burlington residents will elect leaders at multiple levels of government. Depending on your school board affiliation, you may also be voting for a school board trustee. Here's what's on the ballot:

  • Mayor of Burlington (1) — also sits on Halton Regional Council

  • Burlington City Councillors (6, one per ward) — also sit on Halton Regional Council

  • Regional Chair of Halton Region (1) — subject to change pending provincial legislation

  • School Board Trustee — vote for one of four boards based on your school support: Halton Catholic District School Board, Halton District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde, or Conseil scolaire catholique Mon Avenir

Note: The province's proposed Better Regional Governance Act, 2026 could change the Regional Chair from an elected to a provincially appointed position. myvoteburlington.ca will be updated if the legislation passes.
