Burlington has always had opinions — about which patio wins the summer, which neighbourhood is quietly the best-kept secret, who should be running City Hall. Up until now, most of those conversations happened in comment sections, group chats, and lineups at the farmers' market. Starting today, they have a home.

We're launching Polls on Burlington 365 — a new way for the community to weigh in on the topics, places, and decisions that shape life here, with real-time results you can actually see.

Why We're Doing This

Burlington 365 was built on a simple idea: this city is worth paying close attention to. With over a million monthly views across our platform and a community of tens of thousands following along on Instagram and in our newsletter, we're in a unique position — we can actually ask Burlington a question and hear back at scale.

Polls are the next step in that mission. They turn readers into participants, and they turn our platform into something closer to a running conversation with the city itself.

How Polls Work on Burlington 365

We're doing this the right way, not the fast way. A few things worth knowing before you vote:

• You won't see a running tally as votes come in. Every poll runs until a set closing date, and that's it — no peeking at or gaming the numbers mid-vote.

• Results are earned, not automatic. Once a poll closes, we review the reach and quality of the responses. If we're confident the data is accurate and reflects a wide enough cross-section of the community, we'll release it. If it doesn't meet that bar, we won't publish results at all — we'd rather say nothing than share numbers we don't trust.

• We work hard to get real reach. That means pushing every poll across our platform, Instagram, and newsletter to make sure the people voting actually represent Burlington, not just whoever happened to see it first.

• Results live in their own post, not the polls page. When we do release results, expect a dedicated blog post breaking down what Burlington said — the polls page itself is for voting, not for the story behind the numbers.

• We ask for an email only to confirm each vote is from a real, unique Burlingtonian. That email is never used for marketing or added to any mailing list unless you explicitly confirm otherwise.
