Looking for a whimsical way to kick off 2026? On January 1, trade the city lights for the soft glow of the forest at Winterlit.

Looking for a whimsical way to kick off 2026? On January 1, trade the city lights for the soft glow of the forest at Winterlit. Hosted at the Mountsberg Conservation Area, this award-winning outdoor light display offers a peaceful, moonlit escape that celebrates the beauty of nature, winter, and our local community.

Stroll Through Twinkling Trails

The heart of the Winterlit experience lies in its two distinct paths: the Illuminated Sugar Bush and the Winterlit Trail. Each trail is approximately 1 km long, making for a gentle stroll perfect for all ages. As you walk, you’ll discover a series of breathtaking art installations. These aren’t just any lights—the displays feature sustainably sourced, illuminated art that complements the natural surroundings perfectly.

Cozy Up and Connect

Winterlit is designed to be more than just a walk in the woods; it’s a place to gather and get cozy. Throughout the event, you’ll find Fireside Lounges where you can warm up by the flames.

If you're a book lover, be sure to stop by the Book Nook. You can bring a book to swap for a "new to you" read or sit down for a friendly round of board games. It’s the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy the quiet charms of the season.

Interactive Fun and Giving Back

There is plenty to see and do beyond the trails:

  • The Den: Head here to learn all about the animals that call Mountsberg home.

  • Art in the Park: Get creative and make your own work of art! You can choose to display your masterpiece at the park or take it home. Best of all, your activity fee goes directly to the Animal Care Fund, supporting the farm animals, raptors, and native snakes.

  • Souvenirs: Don’t forget to take home a wood-branded souvenir to remember your night.

Delicious Treats and Planning Your Visit

No winter outing is complete without something tasty. Enjoy free maple syrup tastings (available during regular evenings) or purchase delicious hot food, snacks, and drinks to enjoy by the fire.
