Shake Shack Is Coming to North Burlington — Here's Where

Add another name to the north Burlington restaurant boom: Shake Shack is planning to open a location at 4511 Dundas St., a spot that was a Kelseys until earlier this year.

This puts it right in the thick of the Dundas Street and Appleby Line intersection, an area that's been quietly turning into the city's most competitive stretch of real estate for chain restaurants — Chick-fil-A and Jersey Mike's have already landed nearby, alongside burger competition from Rosie's Burgers, Rudy's, Wendy's, and Burger King. Shake Shack wants a piece of that, evidently.

This isn't a one-off for the chain in Ontario, either. Burlington is one of three new locations planned as part of a broader push into the province, with Oakville and London also getting new Shacks. Billy Richmond, Shake Shack Canada's business director, framed it as part of the company's Canadian growth, saying in a release that Oakville, Burlington, and London represent milestones the company is excited about as it works to bring its food and hospitality to more communities.

For context on how new this still is here: there are currently nine Shake Shack locations in Canada — one in Calgary, with the rest clustered in and around Toronto. A Burlington location would be the chain's first real foothold outside that core area, aside from Calgary.

No opening date has been announced yet.

I'll believe the hype the day I'm standing in that inevitable opening-week line myself, but if you've been waiting for someone to finally challenge Wendy's for supremacy on that strip, your contender has entered the ring.

No opening date has been confirmed — check back for updates as the location progresses.
