Emergency crews in Burlington are actively battling aggressive wildfires across the city.
Emergency crews in Burlington are actively battling aggressive wildfires near the CN rail tracks by Appleby Line and Highway 407 — up to and around Tremaine Road — prompting major disruptions across the area.
As of this afternoon, Halton Police have ordered the evacuation of Orchard Park Public School on Dryden Avenue as a precautionary measure due to fires nearby. The fires, which seem to have broken out near the rail corridor close to Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line, have caused heavy smoke and significant traffic disruptions.
Road Closures & Public Safety
Highway 407 is currently closed near Appleby Line to allow Burlington Fire Department access.
Police are directing traffic at the Dundas Street and Appleby Line intersection due to reduced visibility and public safety concerns.
Multiple grass fires are currently burning alongside the rail tracks, and Burlington Fire crews remain on the scene.
So far, no injuries have been reported, but residents and commuters are advised to avoid the area and follow police direction.
